decompressing...

whoa. the black kettle is boiling. school is out for the summer, but things are a happening here. take today for example. past midnight we arrive home from deconstructing a yurt to go in the back forty, then have to unload and return the neighbor's trailer for a schedule use at 4am. scramble to clean up a messy kitchen - we have an instructor staying at the farm this week, unfortunately he saw it at its worst... 5am chicken & duck slaughter w/neighbors. 8am twelve folks arrive for a botany course offered here this week. 10am go wild on the potatoes growing all over from last season in order to ward off any blight that may be lingering around. Noon head to ice cream shop for lunch, but get waylaid at the neighbor's house instead. 2pm move lamb and chicken fences. 4pm haircut from lady who is coming to the farm regularly for community haircut day. 5pm prepare lentils & rice for potluck meeting dinner. 6pm meeting on the porch. 7:30pm both boys fast asleep. tomorrow - add a tai chi class in the barn. i am teaching two classes this week, plus preparing all the food for it. and andy has two interns helping him. sheesh.

i think it sums it up from a statement made from a guy at the barn dance a few weeks ago (250 people here - a preschool fundraiser - quite stellar). he sat down beside me and ask "do you realize you live here?"

maybe it's still early & i do realize it is not for everyone and that it may get to us at some point, but for now it's a good crazy and in the end it makes me smile.

we do love thy neighbor and thy community, so it makes it all the more worthwhile.

oh, and:

i guess we are taking a few moments for ourselves...
